2019 Over The Edge, Saturday, May 11th, Vinings, GA

2019 Over the Edge
Saturday, May 11th
Go Over the Edge for
Special Olympics Georgia!

What is Over the Edge?
Ever wondered if you had what it takes to be fearless and face new challenges head-on? Well, here’s your chance! Saturday, May 11th, join more than 80 “Edgers” who are brave enough to raise $1,000 to rappel over the edge of a 22-story building for Special Olympics Georgia.
On May 11th, 2019, you can experience the challenge, the bravery and the exhilaration of participating in an event that takes you out of your comfort zone and ultimately changes your life forever – the same thing our Special Olympics athletes experience every day.
With this event, Special Olympics Georgia is looking for a few good men and women to make their mark in history while supporting the most credible charity in America. This is your opportunity to experience first-hand what it means to face a challenge that initially seems quite daunting but at the same time celebrates the challenges and similarities we all share in life. This is your chance to show our athletes your courage and your support of what they experience daily.

The Facts:
Who: 86 participants (men, women, children; 100 to 300 lbs)
What: Raise a minimum of $1000 for the chance to rappel down a 22 story building
When: Saturday May 11, 2019
Where: Overlook III 2859 Paces Ferry Road, SE Atlanta, GA 30339
Why: To raise funds to support the year- round training and competition for more than 26,460 Special Olympics Georgia athletes.

Berkeley Lake, GA—On September 21st West Gwinnett Park Aquatic Center, located at 4488 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Berkeley Lake, GA 30092, will be home to the 2019 Georgia Unified Invitational (GUI). This is a sanctioned Special Olympics and USA Swimming observed traditional sprint swim meet.
GUI (pronounced—GOO Wee) was created to provide greater access, exposure and opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities seeking to participate in traditional type sporting events. In addition to racing each other, athletes will have an opportunity to race some of the top swimmers in the world. This includes icons like 2016 Rio Olympic Gold Medalists Anthony Ervin, along with 3 time Olympian, Gold Medalist and former world record holder, Dana Vollmer.

The fun doesn’t stop with the swim meet. Participants can continue to have a good time at the Victory Village, which is open to the public.
