2021 – 2025 Special Olympics Georgia Strategic Plan (Link)
The primary objective of this Five-Year Strategic Plan is to provide a framework of key deliverables aimed at directing our Special Olympics Georgia organization in achieving measurable goals consistent with the Movement Wide Strategic Plan adopted by Special Olympics Incorporated, yet tailored to our unique constituents and state and community program needs.
In order to investigate and implement the 4 Strategic Pillars, underlying goals and action steps, Special Olympics Georgia will involve athletes, family members, volunteers, board members, educators, medical personnel and the SOGA Team. SOGA will utilize social media avenues, fund raising and recruitment to meet the organizations needs for the years 2021-2025.
Below are the key SOGA Strategic Pillars.
• Advance Sports, Training, Competitions and Volunteer Opportunities and Growth
• Build Communities
• Funding and Engagement
• Social Media, Technology and Website
The SOGA Strategic Plan Initiatives are summarized below.
• Advance Sports, Training, Competitions and Volunteer Opportunities and Growth: Our Athletes are the center of our work. Special Olympics Georgia should be recognized as a statewide leader in sports, providing excellence in coaching, training, and competition management at all levels, offering each athlete the opportunity to develop to reach their personal best through the activation of sport and athlete development models.
• Build Communities: The transformative power of Special Olympics Georgia comes when we build powerful communities of change around our Athletes, creating impact at multiple levels of society. Healthy Athletes, Athlete Leadership Programs and schools and youth initiatives (Unified Champion Schools) continue to position our Movement as being a change agent for whole communities – for all of us – not just as a service delivery Program for a small population.
• Funding and Engagement: Special Olympics Georgia must become a more effective, sustainable and innovative marketing and fundraising organization. We must facilitate thoughtful, committed and diversified engagements with individuals, corporations, foundations, civic and service organizations and government agencies while aiming to increase operational funding and support for Special Olympics Georgia. We have an opportunity to translate communications into strategic storytelling, passive spectating into fan engagement and community support into real collaborative and breakthrough fundraising.
• Social Media, Technology and Website: Special Olympics Georgia uses its Media platforms to build brand awareness and create engagement opportunities for our community. By creating and curating content on social media, the SOGA website and Georgia’s Champions e-newsletter we can engage and inform our followers through strategic storytelling. Special Olympics Georgia strives to implement innovative content and marketing tactics to highlight all Special Olympics Georgia programs and events while aiming to increase the following on all media platforms. We strive to provide optimal communication channels through keeping a consistent website, email database, and annual software updates. By keeping all media platforms properly maintained Special Olympics Georgia can better serve the athletes and community as a whole.
